Stina D’Uva, born Agostina Paglialunga, in Brooklyn, New York, of Italian immigrant parents was raised in northern New Jersey. She attended Montclair State College (MSC) in her home state and served as President of Phi Chi Theta, a fraternity with the purpose of promoting women in business and economics. Though her involvement with the Italian Student Organization at MSC, she met and later married Nick D’Uva.
Stina utilized her degree in Business Administration in her early career in the import/export industry. During that time, Stina became the proud mother of identical twin sons, Paul and Steven. A company relocation of Alpha Romeo Distributors of North America, her husband’s employer, brought the young family to MetroWest in Orlando in October of 1989, where she still resides. In 1992, she gave birth to her third son, Marc.
Much of her early years in Orlando were spent raising her young family, working part time jobs which included substitute teaching for Orange County Public Schools and Convention Assistant for the Orlando/Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and volunteering in her community. Stina served as the President of the Greater Orlando Mothers of Twins and Triplets Club, MetroWest Elementary School PTA President, Gotha Middle School PTSA President and SAC Chairman, Board Member and Chairman of Health Central Foundation and President of the Fairway Cove Homeowners’ Association. Stina’s friendship with Karen Ardaman and Teresa Jacobs led her to her grassroots involvement in three successful, political campaigns.
Stina was appointed to the OCPS Reapportionment Committee after the 2000 Census and the Orange County Planning and Zoning Commission/Local Planning Agency in 2000 for six years. Still committed to her support of public schools, Stina ran and was elected as the founding president of the Olympia High School PTSA.
In 2001, Stina returned to the full time workforce as the President/CEO of the West Orange Chamber of Commerce, earning the honor of Chamber of the Year in 2009. In this capacity, she served on Education Action Groups for Mayors Hood and Dyer and Sheriff Demings Transition Team. Her volunteer work continues in her community. She went on to serve on the MetroWest Master Association Board of Directors in 2008 to 2009 and then served as its Communications Committee Chairman. Stina is a board member of the Florida Association of Chamber Professionals. In 2007, Stina was recognized as Orange County District 1 Citizen of the Year. She was a member of the Rotary Club of Southwest Orlando and is a member of the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation and the West Orange Committee of 101. In 2010, Stina graduated from the US Chamber of Commerce Institute of Organization Management and the Business Force Political Leadership Program. In November of 2010, she was reappointed to the MetroWest Master Association Board of Directors.
